Backyard Floral Arrangement
I don’t know about you, but I do not like yard work during the summer. It’s hot, humid, and biting bugs are everywhere. However, one benefit of having a well-maintained yard is looking being able to look outside at some beautiful flowers and plants.
My mother-in-law (”Nana”) came to visit last week and “brought the outdoors in” our house. She, along with her helpers (my little ones), took walks around the yard and picked flowers and pretty foliage. Then they came inside and made a flower arrangement with their finds. I think flowers always seem to brighten up a room; it was especially nice to see ones from our yard!
Inspired by Nana, I decided to try my hand at making two arrangements yesterday. (Note: Nana used to own a florist shop, so her arrangement was a tad more elegant.) Here’s what I came up with:
For my living room mantle:
For my bathroom:
All in all, it was fun to go out in the yard and gather flowers with my kids. Even better, the cost of the project was FREE!
Tip: If you decide to go out and make your own arrangement, you might want to submerge the flowers underwater (in a bucket) for a short amount of time, or else the little critters who live in the flowers outside will make themselves at home in your house, too.
